Is Canva accessible?

Canva is best used for creating graphics for social media posts and designing posters that are intended to be physically printed.

PDFs exported from Canva do not meet accessibility requirements. We strongly recommend not using Canva to create PDFs. A PDF exported from Canva will require extensive remediation to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

Canva Accessibility Best Practices

  • Make your text easy to read. Avoid decorative fonts, left-align your text, and use a minimum of 14pt (or larger) font size. Consider using Berkeley Brand fonts

  • Check your color. Make sure your text color and background color meet color contrast requirements and don’t rely on color alone to convey meaning. Berkeley Brand lists approved color combinations that meet accessibility standards.

  • Keep layouts simple. Group related content together and leave enough white space.

  • Add alt text or a description to images when you post on social media. If you add text to your graphic, be sure the same information is available in your social media post. Learn more about accessibility tools available on different social media platforms
